genioplasty_5643c3274475aChin surgery, also known as Genioplasty or chin re-positioning is a procedure done to correct chin misalignment, chin excess, or receding chins. Genioplasty can be effective for those with a small or receding chin and can alter the structure of the face, providing proportional balance to other facial features. In certain instances a chin that seems too small may possibly make the nose appear overly long.

Reshaping the chin can be accomplished either by using chin implants, or by re-positioning the bone supporting the chin. There are many types of implants available, manufactured from a variety of materials, including silicone or other substances. There is no available evidence to suspect that silicone implants cause any disease. Your surgeon will consult with you, and discuss recommendations for the type of implant to use.

During the procedure, an incision inside the lower lip or under the chin. The chin bone is re-positioned or an implant is placed through this incision. For more information, contact us to set up a consultation.
