Meet Dr. Emily Norton
Dr. Emily Norton grew up in Buffalo, New York. In 2011, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. In addition to her studies, she was a varsity athlete in track and field, specializing in the heptathlon.
After earning her degree, she moved to Fairfax, Virginia to complete a Master’s degree in Forensic Science at George Mason University.
While pursuing her Master’s, she began working as a surgical assistant at Fairfax Oral Surgery, spending the majority of her time in the Fairfax and Centreville offices. Throughout the four years she worked at the practice, she continued to develop an interest in oral surgery. With the support and encouragement of the doctors and staff, she decided to pursue her new-found dream of becoming an oral surgeon.
In 2019 she received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She was inducted into the OKU National Dental Honor Society and also received the Lathe L. Bowen and American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Implant Student Awards. In 2023, she completed her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh. Her surgical training focused heavily on dentoalveolar surgery, including wisdom teeth extractions, bone grafting and dental implants, office-based anesthesia, facial trauma, and orthognathic surgery.
Dr. Norton is happy to have returned to northern Virginia and re-joined Fairfax Oral Surgery. When not in the office, she enjoys running, playing soccer, baking, crocheting and spending time enjoying the culture and sites of Washington, D.C.
